The best run of my life

Since February of this year I started having problems with my calves and then my hamstring and finally my glutes and lower back. I went to multiple specialist doctors, tried a chiropractor and even acupuncture, all with no luck and no relief. Finally my primary doctor gave me a note for physical therapy. Luckily I had a great friend that recommended an awesome physical therapy office.

After about a month of physical therapy and finding out that the outside and inside of my thighs were super weak…oh and my glutes…I finally got the green light to run last Thursday. I did a slower 8 mile run/walk on the weekend and felt great. Yesterday I decided to get back to  my lunch time runs…plus my new Nike shoes had just come that morning so why not go break them in ;)

I turned on my Nike+ app and took off. I have a very specific route…my normal 3 mile out and back through the residential area. My app went off at mile 1 and to my surprise told me I just completed that mile in 8:41!!! WHAT?!?! I was in complete shock and at the same time was thinking H*ll Yeah! I felt amazing and remember physical therapy saying that I would run stronger, faster and more efficient. I finished up my run with my fastest time ever. I can’t even explain how happy I was! This picture is proof lol

I also had to take a picture of my final mileage and time from my Nike+ app. The proof is in the picture and I can’t wait for another strong run. It also goes to show how important strength training is. As a personal trainer I am always telling my clients how important it is to keep their muscles strong to support them through all their training…maybe I should listen to my own advice ;) Well here is to an awesome run and a new-found appreciation for the strong muscles I have!
